Senior School

It has been wonderful to see the College come alive again after the holiday break. A special welcome to the new students and families joining the Trinity community this term. We are delighted that you are here and hope you quickly find a sense of belonging, connection and opportunity within our College. 

We are also pleased to welcome back Mrs Marnie Morey following her maternity leave. Marnie has returned to the classroom and will be teaching RaVE across Years 7-11 this term. We are delighted to have her rejoin the Senior School team and know that students will benefit from her passion and experience. I would also like to sincerely thank Mr Sam Merkel, who taught RaVE during Marnie's leave. Sam has made a valuable contribution to our students and the life of the College, and we are grateful for the care, commitment and enthusiasm he brought to the role. 

A particularly significant milestone begins this term for our Year 12 students as they commence the final term of their formal schooling. Over Weeks 3 and 4, students will undertake their Trial HSC Examinations, an important step in their preparation for the HSC. We wish all Year 12 students every success as they approach this period with diligence, perseverance and confidence. We encourage them to make the most of the support available and to trust in the hard work they have invested throughout their senior years. 

Every week at Trinity is filled with opportunities for engagement, learning and growth, and the beginning of Term 3 has been no exception. Our Student Forum recently met with Dr Johnson and was challenged to think creatively about innovative ways to keep our College environment clean and welcoming. Students embraced the opportunity to contribute their ideas and were also given the opportunity to view proposed new student uniforms and provide valuable feedback. It is encouraging to see our students actively shaping the future of our College. 

Congratulations also to the athletes who proudly represented Trinity at the BISSA Athletics Carnival yesterday. Thank you to all competitors for their commitment, determination and sportsmanship, and to the staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the day a success. A special acknowledgement goes to our Year 9 PASS students, whose assistance with the running of the carnival was greatly appreciated. 

The highlight of my week was undoubtedly the Senior School NAIDOC Week Acknowledgement Assembly. We were privileged to welcome special guest and  past student Tyra Murray, who delivered a passionate and inspiring address encouraging us all to look forward together and actively share in the journey of reconciliation. The Indigenous dancers, both young and old, were outstanding. It was wonderful to witness the sharing of Country, culture and story with our students. As always, our musicians added something special to the occasion with a moving rendition of My Island Home, providing a fitting reflection on identity, belonging and connection. 

I encourage you to enjoy reading about these events and many others throughout this week's newsletter. As the term unfolds, I look forward to sharing more stories that celebrate the achievements, opportunities and experiences that make Trinity such a vibrant learning community.

Student Forum

Senior School (Years 9-11) Student Forum Representatives attended an excursion to the AlburyCity Council to engage with the Community Engagement Team and our local Mayor, Cr Kevin Mack.  

Students had the opportunity to learn some of the specifics about local government in our region, hear from the Mayor on local issues, and to learn more about mechanisms for youth leadership and engagement in our area.  They are a wonderful group of aspiring leaders and asked some fantastic questions during the presentation. 

NSW Parliament Regional Roadshow Youth Forum

Year 11 students, Sean, Keira, Tom and Sam, spent part of the school holidays representing Trinity Anglican College at the NSW Parliament Regional Roadshow Youth Forum.

The forum brought together students from across the region to contribute to the development of the Office for Youth Strategic Plan for Children and Young People 2027–2030. Students had the opportunity to engage directly with Members of the NSW Parliament and share their perspectives on issues that matter most to young people today, including discrimination, education pressures, mental health and the impact of artificial intelligence.

The experience gave our students a valuable opportunity to have their voices heard while collaborating with peers from other schools. It also reinforced just how fortunate they feel to be part of a school community that actively supports student wellbeing, inclusion and meaningful conversations around these important issues.

We are incredibly proud of Sean, Keira, Tom and Sam for representing Trinity with confidence, maturity and insight.

Zeeba and Daphne delected for Sydney Symphony Orchestra Children's Choir

Congratulations to Zeeba Amini (Year 7 Hoffman) and Daphne Hoving (Year 9 Kelton) on their outstanding musical achievement.

Zeeba and Daphne have successfully auditioned for and been accepted into the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Children's Choir - an incredible accomplishment that recognises their talent, dedication and passion for music.

As part of this exciting opportunity, Zeeba and Daphne will perform alongside the acclaimed Australian band The Cat Empire when they collaborate with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for a series of concerts in Sydney on 27, 28 and 29 August.

This is a wonderful opportunity for Zeeba and Daphne to perform with some of Australia's finest musicians on one of the country's premier stages. We congratulate both girls on this well-deserved achievement and wish them both every success for the upcoming performances.

Year 12 Design & Technology

Our dedicated Year 12 Design and Technology students spent several days of the school holidays working diligently on their Major Design Projects. Their commitment and creativity have been outstanding, and we look forward to showcasing their impressive works in Term 4.

Our Year 12 Construction students have been putting their skills into practice, working alongside our Facilities Team.

It has been fantastic to see students apply their knowledge in a practical setting, developing their skills while making a valuable contribution to our Trinity community.
