Prep Learning Reflection

Week 3 - 4
This week we celebrated a very special milestone - 100 Days of Prep! It was so wonderful to see our Preps dressed up as 100 year olds and embracing the fun of the day. From walking with their “walking sticks” to showing off their creative costumes, they looked absolutely adorable!
A big thank you to all the families and friends who joined us for our special 100 Days of Prep parade. It was such a memorable moment watching our Preps proudly walk through the guard of honour created by our amazing Year 5 and 6 students. We loved sharing this milestone with our school community and celebrating how far our Preps have come!
Throughout the day, students consolidated their understanding of the number 100 by exploring different ways to represent it. They worked together to sort materials into groups of 10 and discovered that 10 groups of 10 make 100. It was amazing to see how confidently they shared their mathematical thinking and reflected on just how much they have learnt since their very first days of Prep. We are so proud of the growth, independence and confidence they have developed!
In Mathematics, we have also been exploring volume and capacity. Students have been using MAB blocks to measure and compare the volume of different objects, making predictions and explaining their thinking. They have been learning that objects can take up different amounts of space and that volume can be compared and measured using informal units. Our Preps have loved getting hands-on and becoming little mathematicians as they investigate, discuss and share their discoveries!
