Principal's Message

Dear Sunshine Heights Parents and Carers, 

Today is World Principal's Day, and myself, Mrs McMahon and Mr Anthony have been spoiled by our amazing students and staff. I wanted to take this opportunity to give special thanks to my two amazing Assistant Principals for the work they do every day. Much of the life of an Assistant Principal is working behind the scenes, preparing assessments, data, curriculum or wellbeing documents for funding applications, or completing tasks to make sure every day our school is open, staffed and safe for our students and families. Mr Anthony and Mrs McMahon also spend so much time with our students, teachers and families, and I am blessed to witness their dedication to our community everyday. If you do see our amazing assistant principals please give them a special thank you. 

This week you might have noticed the school toilets have taken a leap forwards. As well as the roof being built, the walls have been enclosed and covered in the weather membrane, so we can really see the building begin to take shape. I toured inside the toilets and met with the Architects, Builders and the VSBA, who have shared a project completion date of the 5th October. This means we will begin term 4 with new and beautiful toilets for our student community. 

In the coming weeks we have some big events coming up. Science Week is set for the 17th to the 21st August. This year, due to a potential strike on Wednesday 19th August, we are working on doing our science week activities across the week for the different year levels, with more information to come out soon. On Friday 21st August we also acknowledge Bully No Way Day, and students will pledge to end bullying at SHPS. The week after is book week, so get your costumes ready for our book week parade! We will also watch our amazing 3/4 students head off on camp, which for our grade 3 students might be their first time leaving their families for multiple days as they learn and play in the outdoor education environment. Lots of exciting days to come!
