FREE ICE-CREAM AND POPCORN FOR FPS STUDENTS!
Like the last couple of years, our FPS students will all receive a wristband this Friday afternoon to wear on the day so that they can claim their FREE ice-cream and popcorn! Particular thanks to Frosty Boy for donating all the ice-cream and Nelson Alexander for the popcorn machine!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is entry to the fete free? YES!
Can we invite people who don’t go to the school? YES!
What time should I come to the fete? Please arrive to the fete at 11:50am as we will kick off promptly at 12pm.
What time are FPS students performing? All FPS students are scheduled to perform from 12:30pm until 1:10pm and will need to be by the stage by no later than 12:15pm.
The rough schedule will be Foundations to Grade 1/2s from 12:30 to 12:45, and Grades 3 to 6s from 12:45 to 1:10pm.
Does your child need to wear their school uniform? NO!
Will the fete be very expensive? We have tried to keep the fete as inclusive and affordable as possible with reasonable pricing and plenty of free activities and free live entertainment for everyone. For families who may be experiencing financial hardship, please see Mary at the Welcome Desk.
How do I pay for things at the fete? Like previous years, you can purchase tokens (1 token is $2) using cash or card from the Welcome Desk at the fete to use at all parent run food and market stalls and any paid activities and games. All external stalls like Language International Bookshop, Twista Bros, Four Rascales Coffee Cart and La Boukinerie des Petits will accept card/cash.
Where do I drop off items for the jewellery and craft stall? Please just drop off any items for sell to Jewellery and Craft stall (in the FL room) by 11am on Saturday. Please ensure that all items are pre-priced in tokens (1 token is $2)!
Why are children being given wristbands? Because on Friday afternoon, classroom teachers and volunteer parent/carers are helping to provide every FPS student with a wristband to wear overnight so that they can claim one FREE ice-cream and one FREE popcorn at the Fete!
But can they shower with the wristband? Yes they can, it shouldn’t come off. Please encourage your child to keep their wristband on as we won’t be able to given out another one to those who lose it.
What if my child is absent on Friday and doesn’t get a wristband? If your child did not get a wristband today, please see Mary at the Welcome Desk tomorrow anytime from 11:30am.
What’s the point of this fete? Our Fantastic Fete is, at heart, a celebration of our students and our school community! We want to bring our wonderfully diverse community together to have fun and celebrate everything that makes FPS so unique!
So what’s all this fundraising for? All funds raised will be used to refurbish our Harmony Garden and make it a much more creative, functional and peaceful space where our students can connect with nature, reflect and learn.
We have reached out to individuals and businesses in the broader community to help support the fete and our silent auction. And if you or anyone you know is in a position to help, feel free to buy a raffle ticket, explore our silent auction or make a tax-deductible gift donation to our Building Fund!
Is it too late to get involved? No not at all! If you haven’t signed up for anything yet, we are still looking for people to contribute to our bake sale (instructions here), donate to our book stall and volunteer for a shift, particularly at the African Feast stall, the Games station, Alumni stall, and Bake stall. We are also looking for two more dunking volunteers! Sign up to the volunteer sheet here or contact us (details below) and we can allocate you an activity.
I’ve signed up to volunteer, what do I do? Here is the instruction sheet for volunteers but we will also have some hard copies available on the day and if required, stall/activity coordinators will have printed instructions on the day.
Can my child volunteer on a stall? In line with our child safety obligations, children under 18 can only volunteer on a stall under the supervision of their parent or carer.

What if I know someone who used to work or be a student at FPS? Please invite any former Fitzroy Primary School staff, teachers or students to the fete! We would love them to contribute to our Alumni Archive, join our Alumni Network (more details here and help us celebrate our 170th year anniversary!

SILENT AUCTION CLOSES ON 16TH NOVEMBER 8PM
There are now over 130 items and over $9000 raised with 4 days to go! Some of the new items that have been recently added include credit vouchers for LeakKids Holiday Program, balance bike and a 1 hour consult with ROAM Architects (the architects who designed FPS! Please share the code with family, friends and colleagues!
If you have any last minute additions to the Silent Auction, please email details of the donation or e-vouchers to fitzroyprimaryfete@gmail.com and kindly drop off physical vouchers/ products to Mary at the school office.
