The LCS Cross Country / Fun Run will be held on Friday, May 1st. The event will be held within the school grounds with all grade levels participating. The event will begin with the 12-year-old students at 11:45 and finish off at around 1:30 with Prep students who will run with their Grade 6 buddies. This is a lead up event before the Grade 4-6 Interschool Cross Country on May 15th.

We are holding a fundraiser in conjunction with the LCS Cross Country / Fun Run. This is a chance for students to raise some money for the school’s sporting department and earn some great prizes for themselves at the same time.  Students who raise $10 or more in donations will be entitled to a prize of their choice. Students do not need to seek sponsorship if they choose not to. Students who do wish to seek sponsorship for the LCS Cross Country / Fun Run will have up until May 1st to do so.

Please note: LCS is registered for online fundraising only. Please read on below for further information.

Create a Student Profile Page at www.myprofilepage.com.au You will also find the steps for setting up your online fundraising in the sponsorship form. Once the fundraiser has finished, click the ‘ORDER MY PRIZE’ button and then confirm your total amount raised and order your prizes by May 8th. The individual prizes will be delivered shortly after.

We welcome parents and family members to attend the Cross Country / Fun Run event to help cheer on the students. Good luck and thank you for considering our fundraising event. Thank you in advance for your participation, and happy fundraising!

GYMNASTICS

Last week our students had a great time learning new skills, challenging themselves and building their confidence during gymnastic sessions. The sessions were conducted by our good friend Gary, from Moving Monkeys in Melbourne as part of the Sporting Schools Program. Well done to our students for their positive approach and willingness to give everything a go and thanks to Gary for visiting LCS and providing us with this wonderful opportunity

NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM

As some of you may be aware, every second year we hold an Art Exhibition where students display the art they have been making throughout the year. We are very much looking forward to this event and we have set the date for Thursday 3rd September in Term 3! If you have been wondering why students have not been bringing their artwork home it is because we are holding onto it and storing it carefully until we can share it with you then.

In other news, students have recently enjoyed completing some Easter art activities, including a pop up art activity during recess and lunch earlier on this week. Not long to go until the Easter Bunny arrives!

In the P-2 area students have been learning about Push and Pull – Forces. They have explored a range of materials and classified them according to there push and/or pull ability. We then began experimenting with the concept. Preps built table worms that pushed and pulled (move) when air was applied to their backs. Meanwhile, the 1-2 students designed and built spoon catapults.

In the 5-6 area students are learning about our last topic in Energy – Electrical Energy. Over the past few weeks students have explored the use of loop circuits to build simple light and fan designs. They will finish off the term by exploring the role of insulators and conductors on electrical energy.

As a School (P-6), we have spent some time designing and building an Easter Hat for the end of term Easter Parade. Art and STEM was combined to allow students to design, build and decorate a hat. They came up with some super amazing Easter Bonnets. We can’t wait to see these in action on the last day of term.
