Indonesian Speech Competition

We are pleased to announce that EHPS Indonesian Speech Competition will be held in Term 2 for students in Years 1 to 6.

Our school will be hosting an internal competition where students will have the opportunity to present an Indonesian speech and compete against others in their year level. Winners from this school-based competition may be selected to represent the school at statewide (Sayembara Lisan) and national (NAILA) Indonesian speech competitions.

This year, the competition format at the statewide and national level will be conducted online via video submission. Sayembara Lisan no longer conducts the in-person presentation. As a result, we will be selecting students to represent the school based on the results of our internal competition.

The competition will consist of two rounds:

  • Audition Round – All registered students will perform their speech.
  • Final Round – Five students will be selected from the audition round to progress to the finals, where they will present in front of a panel of judges.

Students in both rounds will be assessed using the same criteria and materials. In the final round, the top three winners from each year level will be selected to represent the school in the state-wide and national competitions.

In addition to this opportunity, the top three students will receive a certificate and a small prize organised by the school in recognition of their achievement.

All students from Years 1 to 6 are welcome to participate. To register their interest, students are required to write their name on the registration sheet located in the Indonesian classroom before the end of Week 1, Term 2.

We strongly encourage students to practise their speech at home in preparation for the audition round. Please find the EHPS Indonesian Speech Competition materials attached to the message in your Compass Newsfeed with some helpful links to support your child’s preparation at home.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence, develop their language skills, and showcase their learning. We look forward to seeing many students participate.
