Region Swimming
Mr Perini and I were very proud to watch our three students swim at the Eastern Region Swimming event on Tuesday 31 March at Aquanation in Ringwood. Harry was the first to swim his backstroke event, placing third in his heat, swimming 45.71 seconds. Amali then swam her backstroke event and placed first in her heat with a time of 40.61. Lastly Dimitri swam his 50m breaststroke event with a time of 50.84, placing fifth in his heat.
Congratulations to all three students for their efforts in the school, District, Division and Region swimming events. Your achievements were fantastic!
Monique Hocking
District Tennis
On Tuesday 24th March, I competed in the Monash Heights District Tennis competition against students from five other schools and was very proud to win the championship. At the start, I felt a bit nervous, but I became more confident as the matches went on. I really enjoyed playing against opponents and learning from the experience. I felt proud to represent my school and would encourage other students to give tennis a try because it’s really fun sport. Thanks to Ms Hocking for her support and encouragement, and to my teammate Lucas for his support on the day. I’m looking forward to continuing to improve my tennis skills in the future.
Anthony – Year 6
On the 24th March we went to Tally Ho Tennis Club to play District tennis. There were three pools for the boys and the top two players advanced to finals. The competition was very strong and unfortunately, I lost in the knockout finals. Congratulations to Anthony for finishing equal winner. I want to thank Ms Hocking for organising the event and cheering us on during our matches.
Lucas Z – Year 6
I competed in the District tennis competition. I was super nervous but excited at the same time. I ended up coming fifth, just missing out on the semi-finals. I had an amazing time and am very proud of my performance. I would like to thank Ms Hocking for organising the event and being there to cheer everyone on.
Emily – Year 5
Year 6 Summer Interschool Sport
Softball
In Term 1 2026 we played softball. Most of the team knew nothing about softball before signing up. We improved every time we trained and played. We learnt from our mistakes and got better. Our highlights include watching Connor smash the ball when we chanted ‘Power of Allen!’, Allen being our team mascot and the girls team winning their first game.
We never gave up. 😊
Crystal and Pari - Softball Girls’ Captains
Cricket
The Interschool Sports Cricket Team of 2026 consisted of 10 players in each of the mixed and girls’ teams. Each team played five matches throughout the term. Both teams demonstrated great sportsmanship towards other schools and teams. Although we did not win any matches, both teams maintained a positive attitude and found enjoyment in learning a new sport.

Hot Shots Tennis
Our team consisted of ten girls and ten boys who all played doubles and singles. We were really lucky to have the opportunity to paly against five other schools in our district. It was fun to meet other players and see their point of view on the game.
In the end we beat all the other schools which placed us first overall. We had a great time playing with each other and can’t wait for term four finals. We would like to give a special thank you to Ms Hocking for coaching us, as this win wouldn’t have been possible without her.
Neave and Isabelle
This term, our Interschool Sports (ISS) Hot Shots team had a spectacular first season. We played against five different schools: Wheelers Hill, Burwood East, Jells Park, Mount Scopus and Mount Waverley Primary Schools. All our Hot Shots matches were held at Essex Heights, except for our match against Mount Waverley, which was held there. The boys Hot Shots team consisted of Lucas Z, Anthony, Felix, Royce, Tanush, Lucas C, Trien, Patrick, James and Valentino. Both the boys’ and girls’ teams went undefeated, which was a great achievement for Essex Heights. It also meant that because both the boys and girls teams won the majority of the twelve sets, we each played, we made it to Division Hot Shots, which will be played in Term 4. I am immensely proud and pleased that I won all my singles matches and the one doubles match I played. It was an incredibly fun and successful experience, and everyone tried their hardest and played extremely well. A big thank you to Ms Hocking for organising everything, encouraging all of us, and training us so we could reach our highest potential and build our confidence.
Trien
Interschool sports Hot Shots was a unique and exciting experience for me. It was different from what I usually encounter because it encouraged me to compete against strong players from other schools and adapt quickly to new shots or techniques. Our team showed great teamwork and determination, winning against five schools and becoming champions. That moment felt incredibly rewarding, especially knowing how much effort everyone put in. Advancing to Division made the experience even more special. Overall, it helped me grow in confidence, resilience, and sportsmanship, and it’s something I’ll remember as an important and proud achievement in my life.

3XCup Basketball
On Wednesday 25th March 2026, I had the privilege of representing EHPS at the Basketball Victoria 3XCup at the State Basketball Centre, Knox. It was an exciting opportunity to compete against other schools in a fast-paced format of the game.
Our team consisted of Amali (6B), Maggie (6W), Emily (5K), and myself. We competed in a round robin format and finished third in our pool. For the quarterfinals, we faced Cheltenham Primary School, who had placed second in their pool.
Although we didn’t progress to the semi-finals, we gave it our all. The opposition team did have some really tall players, which made the game challenging, but we worked hard, supported each other, and showed great teamwork throughout.
The highlights of the day were being able to coach ourselves, communicate as a team, and enjoy the experience together. We also got to cheer the boys in their semi-finals too. It was a great day, doing something I love, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent our school.
Nilani – Year 6
I competed in the 3x3 Cup Basketball on 25th March. The tournament was held at State Basketball Centre and our Essex Heights team had four players - Nilani, Amali, Maggie and me. We all played well and reached the quarter finals. It was a fantastic experience and we all had fun. I would like to give a shout out to my Mum for driving to the stadium and Miss Kemp for selecting and training the teams.
Emily – Year 5
I went to 3xCup basketball for the girls’ team. I played with Emily, Nilani and Amali. Even though we tried our best and had fun we didn’t get to move on. We loved the experience and we would love to do it again.
Maggie – Year 6
Will, Travis and I played in the 3xCup Basketball. We played six games, our first three games were pool games that went for 12 minutes or first to 21 points. Teams had three players on court and you could have one sub. The players were allowed to call one thirty second timeout. We played at the State Basketball Centre and won four games. We won the first knockout match which was the quarter finals then we lost the semi-finals and finished fourth overall. We showed great teamwork.
