Seisometers at St Philip

St Philip's College is proud to be a part of the The Australian Seismometers in Schools (AuSIS) program - a national educational outreach and scientific initiative that installs research-grade seismometers in schools to record live earthquake data. 

In Week 6, we had to privilege of hosting Dr Sima Mousavi on campus who came to install a brand-new, high-end seismometer - only 6 locations nationwide are getting this upgrade.

We were also lucky enough to have her run interactive incursions with some of our Year 8 classes, and a PD session for our science staff. 

Dr Sima Mousavi completed her master's degree in geophysics and seismology at the University of Tehran, completed her doctorate at Leipzig University in Germany and is now an honorary lecturer and researcher at ANU.
