NT Cricket + Year 7s = Action

This term, Year 7 students have been diving into the exciting world of striking and fielding in their PE unit. From swinging the bat to sprinting between wickets, the focus has been on learning the key skills needed to score runs and work as a team.
They’ve been practising important skills like catching, throwing, body movement, and positioning through a variety of fun games and activities. Along the way, students are also building their teamwork and leadership abilities, cheering each other on and learning how to communicate effectively on the field.
To make the experience even more special, the Year 7s were lucky enough to have a visit from Kesh Keerthi from the Northern Territory Cricket Pathways program.
The NT Cricket Pathways program is designed to help young cricketers in the Northern Territory develop their skills and potentially progress from junior cricket to elite or even professional levels.
Kesh joined the Year 7 students for two action-packed lessons across Miss Jones’ and Miss Moroney’s classes, helping students refine their cricket skills while keeping the energy high. Students took part in activities such as continuous cricket, practised bowling techniques with aim and accuracy and finished with a game!
“For me, the cricket field is like a temple which oozes calmness and tranquillity, and I want to be able to help enable others to experience that feeling and grow Territorians’ love for the game.”— Kesh Keerthi
