Year 4 Camp
'The Ranch'
This week the Year 4 students at MEPS went to school camp at the Ranch in Boneo. We got to the Ranch by bus. I sat next to Olivia and we talked with April until we stopped at Seawinds Park. At the park we saw three large brown kangaroos. We ate our snacks and went back on the bus. It was only 20 minutes until the best camp of our lives.
My first activity was the giant swing. We had to put on a harness that attaches to a large rope. The other 16 kids pulled the rope when the kid with the harness was on said they'd gone high enough. We let go and they fell…….dropping suddenly….. gravity disappearing. On my turn, I went close to 18 metres which is the top height but I think I only went about 16 metres high. Then I fell. It felt like my brain was sinking into my feet. Another activity I did at camp was zip line. Everyone put on the harness and walked the 112 metres to the top of the hill. We were waiting until it was safe to go then I got to go down. It was really high, really fun, really exciting. I zoomed past the bushy green trees and sandy grass floors until I suddenly stopped. Year 4 camp was at ‘The Ranch’ in Boneo, it was half an hour away. When we got there the first thing we did was the giant swing. I was the second to go on it. When it was my turn, I went to the very top which was 18 metres tall. I closed my eyes and grabbed the rope and pulled it, it was so scary it was basically a drop and then I started to swing on it.
Finally, the time I was waiting for. We got to know which cabin we were in. I was in cabin 10. I rushed to my cabin to get the top bunk. It came with two normal bunks, one triple bunk and queen-sized bed. It also had a mini kitchen with a mini fridge. The bathroom had a shower, a sink and a toilet. I liked to call the bathroom the luxury bathroom! By Will O 4B
Our activity was the Flying Fox. There were two Ziplines. We went in pairs. I went with Sienna P. We got our harnesses on, helmets on and our ticket. The walk was about 30m. Going down was so much fun, it was extraordinary! We went two turns, I was a little bit nervous but it helped having someone next to me. Then we had dinner and watched a movie. Some people went outside to play footy with Mr Kent and then we went to bed. By Edwina 4B
On day 2, we got up and started playing before packing our bags and going to breakfast. At breakfast I had cereal, toast, eggs and baked beans. Then we went to our next activity. My group did archery, which I wasn't too good at. My best shot landed in the blue ring which was the 3rd best. Afterwards, we had lunch which was a delicious flatbread stuffed with chicken and salad. For dessert we had a slice of watermelon and chocolate tart. Eventually we had to leave the ranch and go back to school (I didn't want to leave but we had to). We caught the bus back to MEPS and our parents were waiting for us when we arrived. We all had such an amazing time at The Ranch! By Harry W 4A
