As the end of the term 2 makes its way, ending the first half of 2024, HoL Café have accomplished so much.
Over the past couple of weeks, the kids in the café have been feverishly cooking up a storm for the Cancer Council, not one, but two Biggest Morning Tea’s!
On the 30th of May, the HoL Café team were fortunate to work alongside the Food Tech department to create an amazing day. The week leading up to the bake sale, our café students feverishly created an amazing array of delectable sweets, nearly 200 cookies, over 80 hedgehog slices, nearly 90 pizza scrolls, close to 80 chocolate cupcakes and even 50 gluten free cookies!
So many of, not only the café students and staff, but the school as whole, dressed up in their favourite superhero’s, TV characters or Celebrities. During the lunchtime bake sale, Brookside College was very fortunate to have Deputy Mayor, Cr Steve Abboushi, for the Melton Council jump behind the stall and dish out to our students, some of the amazing treats we created.
Last week, our students put on our second Biggest Morning Tea for all the staff. Although there was no where near as much cooking involved in this event, the students delivered an amazing day. Not only did they cook in the morning, set up the event but they also ran the games!
Thank you to everyone who dressed up on the day, spread the word and got involved in the events. We are so proud to say, between the Bake sale on the 30th, the online donations and the staff event on the 6th, Brookside College as a collective managed to raise almost $1900, all being donated to the Cancer Council!
We are incredibly proud of our students so far, and we can’t wait to see what else is in store for them in the months ahead.
