Healthy Kids Learn Better

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The space around treating head knocks resulting in concussion is changing. New information & research is bringing into light that each knock to the head can bring bad side effects if not treated with seriousness.

The information attached is the new tool used for head knocks ( it can be found in the Departments of Education Website), the school has adjusted to include the information sent to families when their child has a knock to the head at school.

Please be mindful the way the health centre communicates with Brookside community is through Compass notifications, with head knocks a message is also sent to your mobile to ensure you are given the choice to collect your child if you wish to.

For head knocks where there are symptoms present and knock may have been of a more forceful nature, families will be called if no answer a message will be left to call school back. If we do not hear back the child will rest but ultimately will be returned to class when feeling better.

DOCUMENTATION

  • DOCUMENTATION - It is of utmost importance that our school is provided with up to date information. Documentation that is required has been sent to the relevant families, most recently via email. Please complete and return to the Health Centre as soon as possible.

MEDICATION

  • MEDICATION - Occasionally, students require medication while they are at school. In order to administer medication to students a Medication Authority form needs to be completed with a parent’s signature. Medications are to be provided to the school in original packaging with pharmacy labels intact. Tablet sleeves need to have the full name of the medication and expiry date intact.

AMBULANCE COVER

  • AMBULANCE COVER - A reminder, in the event of an emergency, either by accident / injury or illness, the college will call an ambulance. Please ensure your child is covered by ambulance cover if you do not have a Health Care Card. The costs incurred for an ambulance will be the responsibility of the respective parents/guardians.

COVID 19

Please be vigilant with COVID 19 sign & symptoms, if your child is unwell do not send them to school until the symptoms have resolved.

We need to keep each other safe so life can return to some sort of normality.

Many thanks,
