The preps have been having so much fun exploring narratives. We have been reading different fairy tales and identifying the characters, setting, problem and solution. The preps have had the opportunity to write and publish their own stories. There have been so many amazing stories so far and we cant wait for them to be completed so we can share them with the rest of the prep students.
Congratulations to all the prep students as they end their first Semester of schooling. We look forward to all the fun next semester with our first excursion to the zoo, celebrating 100 days of prep, the book week parade, a movie celebration at Hoyts, and many more.
Happy and safe holidays to everyone.

The grade 1's have had a busy week writing their narrative with interesting characters and plots, taking time to think about the environmental impact of waste by coming up with creative ways to use household waste such as boxes bottles and egg cartons.
Into the world of maths, the grade 1's are exploring number patterns through counting by 10's, 5's and 2's and in reading students are learning about digraphs and trigraphs.

It has been a busy term so far in Year 2. Students have continued to develop their reading skills by learning different comprehension strategies such as inferring, summarising, predicting, and understanding tricky words. In writing, students have written various recounts and learned how to revise and edit their work.
In Maths this term, students have learned about 2-dimensional shapes and 3-dimensional objects. They have investigated their properties and even tried making different nets for each 3D object. Students have been mathematicians in maths, learning about fractions. They have learned about halves, quarters, and eighths, and fractions as a collection.
Students have been learning about sustainability in our humanities unit this term. They have been studying how to reuse, recycle, and reduce to change our sustainable footprint. Students attended CERES, where they engaged in hands-on learning about how to look after the environment. Students said it was one of the best excursions they have ever been on!
Students are required to read for 15 minutes each night and record their reading nights in their yellow diary. Students have access to studdyladder and their teacher has been allocating weekly Reading, Writing and Maths tasks to complete.
