World Refugee Day 2024

This year, World Refugee Day focuses on solidarity with refugees –

for a world where refugees are welcomed.

Refugees need our solidarity now more than ever. Solidarity means keeping our doors open, celebrating their strengths and achievements, and reflecting on the challenges they face.

Solidarity with people forced to flee also means finding solutions to their plight – ending conflicts so they can return home in safety, ensuring they have opportunities to thrive in the communities that have welcomed them, and providing countries with the resources they need to include and support refugees (UNHCR Australia).

Congratulations to all students and families for an outstanding response to the food drive. It was truly an overwhelming response. The food will be donated to The Jesuit Refugee Service

Food insecurity is a significant challenge for many families and individuals the Jesuit Refugee Service serves. Many people are unable to work while they await resolution to their situation.

The Lasallian Core Principle of concern for the poor and vulnerable emphasises the importance of advocating for those who are suffering. Thank you for your generosity and genuine kindness.

Evangelisation Day

On Wednesday, 26 June, fifteen Year 7 students represented our College at the Year 7, 8 and 9 Evangelisation day held at Trinity College, Auburn. The theme for the day was, "we journey together as joyful witnesses to hope". Students engaged in various activities throughout the day including discussion groups, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, trivia with other schools and the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. They also heard from various guest speakers who shared testimonies of hope. This was a fruitful day which fostered the opportunity of engaging with students from across the Archdiocese of Sydney and I would like to commend the students on their mature approach to the themes and discussion-based nature of the day.
