The theme of this Newsletter is ‘ leadership ‘. It means many different things to different people so perhaps we should first identify some of the many ways in which Year 11 students are already demonstrating the qualities associated with this concept:
At this week's Year Assembly, I introduced the framework of ‘College Leadership‘ to the Year 11 cohort, encouraging them all to see themselves as leaders and to think about where they can potentially make a contribution. Term 3 is the last term of Year 11, and as our Year 12’s begin to transition out of school, it will be time for our Year 11’s to step up and take on responsibility for the growing St Aloysius College.
The application and voting process will be outlined formally next term but I hope that I have planted a seed in the minds of many of our young men and women - that they can take up the opportunity to officially represent their school as a Student Leader for the 2024/25 HSC group. There will be a number of different positions available and not all ‘leadership‘ needs to involve being the centre of attention or speaking in front of large audiences. There are huge benefits to having some leadership experience, in terms of students’ own personal development, their resumes and also in making application for such things as Early Entry.
A few key dates to wrap up the term:
