Dear Parents, Students and Friends of the College
As we head into the last week of the term, St Aloysius students continue to be highly engaged with learning, display success on the sporting field and engage in our faith life. Our Facebook/Instagram page highlights some of our students and College events that really reflects the passion they have for high expectations, ‘competing’ to the best of their ability and making a difference in our Community.
Recently I have read the Year 11 & Year 12 student reports (and about to engage with Year 7 reports) and would like to congratulate both year groups for their strong work ethic and ability to achieve to a high standard. Many students have a near or close to perfect attendance rate for the semester (although some students really need to better commit to being on time and some are falling below the 90% acceptable attendance rate) and I am encouraged by the number of students being rated in their efforts on reports as ‘consistently’ to all of their subjects. Having a positive student-teacher relationship during years 7, 11 and 12 is so fundamentally important to achieving HSC (life in general) success regardless of the pathway.
The conclusion of a semester is approaching. I encourage all students to reflect on their learning, attendance, and their efforts whilst they read over their Semester One report. This is a terrific opportunity to identify areas of strength and celebration as well as aspects of learning that require focus during the Second Semester or for our Year 12 students areas to specifically focus upon for the HSC trials. It was wonderful to see Year 12 and Year 11 parents being onsite for our Parent - Teacher Interviews. I cannot stress enough the importance of these evenings.
I provide the following details on behalf of Fr James on a very significant event in the life of our College Parish.
On Friday, 28 June 2024 at 6:30pm St Aloysius Catholic Church, Cronulla will celebrate its centenary with a special Mass to be celebrated by The Archbishop of Sydney Most Rev. Anthony Fisher OP.
Could I strongly encourage our Cronulla families to attend this most significant occasion.
Following the Mass, festivities will continue in the St Aloysius Parish Grounds and Thornton Hall.
Please RSVP by emailing admin@cronullacatholic.org.au
I share the following information to parents/carers to assist in the understanding on how important attending and arriving on time to all of your classes should be a priority.
Benefits Of Attendance:
Losses Due To Non-Attendance:
I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank the 60 parents/carers who completed the ‘Tell Them From Survey’. Your feedback is very important to us and we will be looking at these responses carefully throughout term 3 together with students and teachers responses to continue to improve areas across the College.
Just a reminder to our Year 7 parents/carers if you could please take the time to complete a very specific survey to gather feedback from you regarding your child’s journey with us this year on matters concerning their transition/learning and uniform.
The survey will take no longer than 10 minutes to complete but will provide the College with wonderful insight on your transition journey from primary to secondary school and areas for improvement for the College.
This survey will close Monday, 22 July.
Please click on the link to see the letter regarding all details for the end/beginning of term in a letter sent to parents/carers.
I hope our families enjoy a relaxing winter break with students re-charged ready for the challenges of term 3.
I will be taking the opportunity to take some leave myself during the winter break and into term 3. Mr Tim Logue (a very experienced, recently retired Catholic Principal) will be Acting Principal from Thursday, 27 June until Friday, 26 July. I know the College will be in very good hands while I’m on leave.
God bless &
as always ‘Up Up Cronulla’
