Leadership's Letter

Farewell to the Class of 2026

Thursday 15 October marked an important milestone for our Year 12 students as the College gathered for their Graduation Farewell Assembly.

The Class of 2026 entered the assembly to applause from their peers and teachers, beginning a morning of reflection, celebration and gratitude for their six years at Mazenod.

Principal Dr Paul Shannon addressed the graduating cohort, acknowledging the mixture of excitement and emotion that comes with leaving school. He encouraged them to recognise the people who have supported their journey, particularly their families, teachers and friends.

A highlight of the assembly was the presentation of the Leave to Serve Award to Daniel Paone (MOC1998), recognising his contributions to business, environmental sustainability and community service. Daniel reflected on his own Mazenod experience and encouraged the graduating students to remain connected to the College throughout their lives.

College Captain Oliver delivered a thoughtful final address, reflecting on the everyday moments and friendships that have defined the Class of 2026. The assembly also featured a performance by our Year 12 musicians, the presentation of gifts from the graduating cohort, and the official handover of leadership to incoming College Captain Angus and Vice-Captains Samuel and Ben.

Following the traditional staff blessing and a special blessing from College Rector Fr Harry Dyer OMI, the morning concluded with a new tradition, the Legacy Walk.

In a fitting reversal of their welcome earlier this year, Year 7 students formed a guard of honour for the graduating cohort as they departed beneath the Leave to Serve sign.

We congratulate the Class of 2026 and thank them for their contribution to College life. We wish them every success in their upcoming examinations and the opportunities that await beyond Mazenod.
