St A's Sports Report

Sport Report

In this week's sports report, we would like to recognise the awesome efforts of both our grade 5 / 6 girls and boys basketball teams and our St A’s Field Athletics Team!

Last Friday on the 25th of August 10 girls and boys traveled to Frankston basketball stadium to compete in the Bayside District Basketball Lightning Premiership. It was a massive day which involved both girls and boys teams playing in 11, 10 minute games of basketball against schools from our district.

All students should be incredibly proud of their efforts on the day. Our girls team finished 3rd overall in division 1, and our boys team finished 1st overall in division 1. This means our boy’s team will progress to the next event in term 4 and we wish them the best of luck!

We would also like to congratulate our St A’s Field Athletics Team who on Wednesday this week traveled to Ballam Park to compete against other schools from our Bayside district in field athletic events. It was another massive day where selected students from grade 4 to grade 6 competed in the following field events;

  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump
  • High Jump
  • Discuss
  • Shot Put

We came away with quite a few first, second, third and fourth places and all students should be incredibly proud of their efforts on the day!

Lastly, although we are reaching the end of term 3, the beginning of term 4 is going to be another busy time in relation to inter school sports. Some key dates for the beginning of term 4 include:

  • Grade 4-6 Peninsula Division Athletics (still waiting on confirmation as to what events students will be participating in) - 04/10/2023
  • Grade 5/ 6 girls AFL Lightning Premiership - 06/10/2023
  • Grade 5/ 6 JPC Lightning Premiership - 10/10/2023
  • Grade 5/ 6 District Cricket Day - 13/10/2023

Thanks & Go St A’s!
