She is prepared to get in there and have a go.

Year 8

Olivia McLachlan 8 Blue

Olivia has accumulated an outstanding year of participation and achievement across a variety of Academy pursuits.  Her involvement across a broad range of sporting activities has been noted by many staff and her willingness to compete with a generosity of spirit, coupled with the fair-minded ruthlessness that has come to characterize Academy sport, has been a recognised hall mark of her endeavors and has been commented upon by both students and staff.

She was an integral part of both the indoor and outdoor soccer teams assuming a leadership role in both and displaying the skills of a well-trained athlete.  When the senior team in soccer had been crippled by injury she was the first to put her hand up to take the field where she contested the ball with tenacity, persistence, courage and skill.  Her inclusive nature also saw her bring those around her more fully into the games.

Olivia fulfilled her commitment to the volleyball team, training with diligence and discipline throughout the Friday nights and the determination and desperation she showed throughout the tournaments brought a heightened standard to the Academy Volleyball Program.  She willingly assumed the role of House Leader for the Athletics and Swimming Carnivals and she competed in all events possible, winning the 100, 800 and 1500 metre running events.  She inspired many of her contemporaries to compete in events to which they were not used, broadening experience and lengthening horizons.

It has also been noted in class that Olivia is very supportive of her peers.  While achieving at a consistently high level, she ensures that those around her are not left behind, where possible giving help and advice, always with an encouraging smile.  She is willing to help out in many ways in the classroom and she sets a fine example to her peers through her cooperative nature and generous spirit.
