Whole School Assembly

Community Builder

What an amazing way to conclude our whole school assemblies, with a celebration of the Year 12s finishing school and being surrounded by such a supportive community consisting of, teachers (past and present) learning assistants, IT, librarians, maintenance, administration and parents, that made this possible. With such a special group of Year 12s, the MECS village should be proud of the way it has ‘raised the child’.

Spearheaded by our dedicated team of Year 12 captains, Grace, Irin, Noah, and Sam, the whole school assembly showcased a highlight of the year video, with Prep Buddies featuring throughout, a chance to relive some special childhood memories through singing Colin Buchannan’s “King of the Jungle” song, and a staff versus students’ game of charades. There was also a humorous performance of years gone by, which reflected on the variety of camps and programs the Year 12s experienced at MECS.

As we said a fond farewell to our Year 12s, we prayed that not only will they remember the community that has encouraged, supported, prayed for and believed in them over many years, but that they also may be builders of community in whatever area of life God calls them. And in the words of anthropologist Margaret Mead – ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.”
