Around the School

Australian Mathmaticis Competetion
Each year our Baimbridge College Students are encouraged to test their mathematical problem solving skills by taking part in the Australian Mathematics Competition. This test of mathematical and multiplicative thinking, puts our students up against thousands from around Australia and the rest of the world. This year, more than 90 Baimbridge College students demonstrated great courage in how they approached this challenging test of knowledge. As they have in past years, our students applied themselves admirably. They were pushed to their mathematical limits, needing to think outside of the box in order to unpack questions and problem solve. Results should be released in October.
Year 7 Book Week
During Book Week this year, the Year 7’s took part in a range of fun activities and competitions. The Scavenger Hunt was the highlight. Many characters were found hiding in the Hub, however the Green Sheep and Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket were particularly elusive! The Year 7’s finished the week off with a celebration day in the Library where they participated in a range of book-based activities and dressed as their favourite book characters.
Legacy Badge Selling
On Wednesday 2 September, some of our Baimbridge College students headed out into the Hamilton community to support Legacy Week, selling badges and merchandise and helping to raise an incredible $1,320.
Our students represented the College with pride as they chatted with members of the community and encouraged people to support Legacy’s important work with families of veterans. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to build their confidence and communication skills while experiencing the impact that a little time and effort can have when we come together to support a great cause.
We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced the day, showing Pride, Courage and Respect and making a valuable contribution to our local community.
A huge thank you to our students for their efforts, to everyone who generously donated, and to Legacy for giving our students the opportunity to be involved once again.
Year 9 Volunteering

Passport 2 Employment
The 2026 Passport 2 Employment Program was an 6 -week journey designed to build students’ confidence, employability skills and readiness for the workforce. Students took part in hands-on activities covering presentation skills, healthy lifestyles, teamwork, financial awareness, workplace skills, transport, and career planning. The students completed the program with valuable skills, increased confidence and a greater understanding of their pathway towards future employment.
Year 12
The theme for this dress up day was over-dressed or under-dressed. For most students this meant they rolled out of bed and headed to school in their PJs. Was a very comfy day for most.
Art
Year 7 Art students worked on making a prototype for a public bench. The design brief asked for the bench to fit a family of four, be attractive to primary school age zoo visitors and could include additional play features. Students could work solo or in pairs. Some students included additional play features like kaleidoscope butterfly view ports and swing features.
Year 8’s are making a sign. Using a softer embossing aluminium foil instead of gal sheet allowed students to create more fluid and individual signage. The frame used Metalcraft equipment and included riveting scrolls and bent metal into designs of their own creation. If you look closely at Jade’s frame you can see a bird and some snails with in her design.
Year 10 students have been looking at the artwork of Giacometti and Chris Mason, students created figures in action using twisted wire, paper, plaster bandage and magic paper clay. Such an amazing variety of action and movement.
Food Technology
The Year 7’s have cooked up a storm in the Food Room and learnt many culinary skills as well as learning about the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating in Food Technology. They have made, evaluated and enjoyed: Flat Bread Pizzas, French Toast with Rosewater Strawberries, Stuffed Potatoes, Mini Quiches, Chicken Schnitzel Burgers, Apple and Cinnamon Muffins, Fried Rice and Beef Tacos.
Year 9 Paddock to Plate students have been busy in the kitchen making potato rosti with a crunchy garden salad. Students followed the recipe while practising important kitchen skills, including organisation, hygiene, measuring, grating and safe knife techniques.
Physical Education
Cycling in PE lessons
Over the last few weeks, the Year 7 and 8 students have been making use of our new fleet of bikes. They have been completing sessions on bike safety and skills. As we move into nicer weather, we are encouraging active transport and trying to get students to ride to school. The Year 9 and 10 students will have some cycling sessions in their Physical Education lessons in Term 4.
Bandicoot Block #3 - 2026
This week we had the third and final running of the Bandicoot Block for 2026. There were lots of personal best times and a couple of records set. Results are still being tabulated, and the final results will be released in early Term 4 and placed on the honour board.

Year 7 - Mud Dadjug campsite

Year 9 & 10's
Year 7 & 8's
Lunchtime Activities
Throughout Term 3, House leaders and Sport staff ran some amazing lunchtime activities aimed at increasing activity, school spirit and engagement. Across the week the gym was regularly full at lunchtime with Netball, Basketball, Indoor Soccer and Badminton.
A special mention to Mr Cheng and Fraser Captains; Stephen and Chelsea for running the Badminton competition each Tuesday.
As part of the House activities, Mrs Phillips had D9 packed full of students participating in the trivia competition. This was lots of fun for all involved.
In Term 4, we are looking to continue to offer activities, particularly fitness sessions. Stay tuned to COMPASS for more information.
