YEAR 11 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 7

College Guiding Principles

In Week 7, Year 11 students will continue their focus on the College Guiding Principles during their Extended Pastoral Group. Having previously explored Dignity, Empathy and Dialogue, students will now focus on Community and Perseverance.

Students will reflect on these Guiding Principles and consider how they can put these values into practice through their everyday choices, relationships and contributions to the College community.

2027 Senior Jersey

The Class of 2027 Senior Jersey design process is moving into its final stages. Next week, Year 11 students will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite design from the top three options.

During Weeks 8 and 9, students will also have the opportunity to try on sample sizes before placing their orders. Further information about the ordering process will be shared in the coming weeks.

Year 11 Community Day – Something to Look Forward To!

Plans for our Year 11 Community Day at Green Island are well underway. In Term 4, Week 4, following the Year 11 Block Exams, we will come together for a day of celebration, connection and fun.

It will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the year that was, spend time together as a Year 11 community and enjoy a day away before students begin their Year 12 journey.

More details about the day, including activities and arrangements, will be shared as plans are finalised.

Toilet Facilities

Recently, there have been incidents of vandalism and misuse in the Senior Boys' Toilets, including damage to door panels and cisterns, as well as toilets being deliberately blocked. This issue has been addressed by the Heads of Year, and as a result, some toilet facilities have been temporarily closed.

We are fortunate to have excellent facilities at our College, and it is important that all students treat them with dignity, respect, and care. Damage to College property affects the entire community and diverts resources that could be better spent supporting student learning and wellbeing.

If students witness any damage or inappropriate behaviour, we encourage them to report it to a staff member immediately so that action can be taken straight away.

We also ask for the support of parents and carers in reinforcing this message at home. Conversations about respecting shared spaces, taking pride in our College environment and speaking up when something is wrong can make a significant difference.

Careers

CQU Cairns Open Day

Students are encouraged to take advantage of the upcoming Central Queensland University (CQU) Cairns Open Day on Thursday, 27 August from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm

Open Day is a great opportunity for students to explore study options, learn more about courses and pathways, meet university staff and get a feel for life at CQU.

Students and families can find further information and register via the CQU Cairns Open Day website.
