YEAR 8
Building Strong Connections

Head of Year 8
On Wednesdays during PG for the next three weeks, our Year 8 students will participate in an interhouse sports challenge, led by our Year 10 Leaders. This activity will strengthen our overarching Year 8 focus of ‘Building Connections’, specifically between year levels.
In Week 7, the mighty Cahill House will take on courageous Heavey House in what is sure to be a battle of the year. In Week 8, Hutchinson and Murrary will face off, with the final being held in Week 9.
Which House will come out victorious and earn valuable points towards the House Cup Challenge this term?
We thank our Year 10 Leaders for generously giving their time to organise this activity for our students.
Over the coming weeks, we have a number of Year 8 students involved in extracurricular activities. We wish the very best of luck to our students participating in the College Musical, All Schools Touch Football, Interschool Chess Tournament, JSS Games and QAMT quiz.
We are so proud of your dedication, commitment and willingness to get involved. We wish you all the very best of luck!
Our Year 8 students are fortunate to be attending the College Musical next Wednesday, 26 August, during Sport.
As we enter the second half of the term, students can understandably become more tired and stressed as assessment demands increase. However, we are noticing an increase in poor behaviour choices among some of our Year 8 students.
These behaviours include teasing, disrespect towards teachers (including relief teachers), ‘dacking’, inappropriate physical contact at lunch (such as tackling), disruption of other students’ learning, inappropriate use of laptops and swearing.
These behaviours are not tolerated at our College. Students who make inappropriate choices will be issued consequences in line with our Whole School Behaviour Response Continuum.
Thank you in advance for speaking with your child about these expectations and for supporting our consistent approach to positive behaviour across the College.
Please note: We have updated the format of the newsletter. The Whole of College Notices and Uniform Schedule are now located in their own dedicated tab, making it easier to find this important information each week.
