House Updates

Blackwood

What an amazing start to the term, with our win in Chorals (YESSSS COMEBACK TIME) and coming second in House Dance!! We have a few short messages from our Chorals and Arts Captains just reflecting on these wins and experiences.

This year’s Chorals was spectacular. I firmly believe this was one of the best we’ve had across all the houses, and I hope everyone, on and off stage, enjoyed the performances!

Blackwood’s Chroals team was one of the most dedicated and skilled I’ve ever seen, I truly appreciate every one of you, and it was the excellent collaboration and cooperation of all of us that achieved this conquest.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in our choir, instrumental band, rock band, mass singing band, and anyone who helped along the way.

Blackwood, I thank you again for being so respectful and putting in so much effort during mass singing rehearsals because you made my job so much easier whilst I was half focused on trying my hardest not to fall off that ladder.

We’ve accomplished something outstanding, and I hope you can take pride in this victory!

- Hiumi, B1 (Blackwood Chorals Captain)

Hey Knights!! House Dance performances finally happened on Thursday after weeks of preparation. Our dance team had a phenomenal performance, where the choreography was outstanding and synchronised to perfection.

I'm so proud of the girls who put their heart and soul into making this possible.💙⚔️

Just a quick reminder to those signed up for House Art that submissions for your 'Balance' artworks are due on Wednesday Week 9!!

But this term isn’t done just yet, we’ve still got plenty more to come. From the annual push-up challenge, to the Secundus cup, where we know our Year 10’s will pull their weight all the same with the support of their Year 12 mentors, and finally House Art as Zyna has mentioned! The race isn’t over just yet Blackwood.

From your House Captains, Rishit and Rachel.

Kororoit

Term 2 has been so very BUSY. Whether it be SACs, Sports, or events, we’re sure Kororoit has been giving its all!

At the start of the term, we had Active April wrap up with a 3rd place performance. While 3rd isn’t where Kororoit likes to be, every step, stretch, and sprint counts, and we’d like to give a massive thank you to everyone who got involved in logging hours! Recently, we also had our first ever Alumni Week, where while we might have come 4th overall, it was a special opportunity to reconnect with past Kororoitians, learn from their own personal journeys and experiences, and see how far their Kororoit spirit has gotten them!

Now then, let's hear from our amazing Chorals and Arts captain regarding their journey for their respective events, House Chorals, and House Dance that took place this term!

A year has come and gone since SCHS’ first ever House Dance Competition with reigning champions Kororoit being the ones to beat in 2025. However there was no stopping the fantastic Kororoit dance team, Jasmine, Louise, Fifi, and Claudia, with their newest addition, Nancy. Another amazing victory amongst stiff competition under their belts, Kororoit secured 20 points for the elusive house cup. Thank you to all the students who supported their houses at this year’s House Dance Competition and were able to witness the spectacular performances of each house. An extremely special thanks to Ms Kinnane, Mr Hart, and the other teachers who were able to make that amazing performance happen, we are all looking forward to what next year has in store for the dancers of SCHS and who will be victorious in 2026. Congratulations to all the houses once again for the amazing competition and sportsmanship shown on the day. GO KOROROIT!! #humble

Rothwell

Hope you’ve all had an amazing Term 2 so far.  I know the year 11s and 12s have been bombarded with SACs, and the 9s and 10s with tests respectively. Term 2 has certainly been quite hectic, with Chorals in week 3 and House Dance just last week. With all our efforts, despite the outcome, the Rothwell leadership have been nothing but proud. You guys are so amazing!

In the past few weeks, Rothwell won Active April for the 5th year in a row, thanks to all of your hard work. We are so proud to see everyone’s joint and collective efforts, I guess the gainmaxxing actually did happen. Not only this, but Rothwell also came 🥇FIRST🥇 during the alumni week, where many of you got to connect with the Rothwell family tree and learn from many of their personal experiences.

With Chorals being a few weeks ago, you guys have put up a stellar performance in each event. The contrast between everyone’s loud, bright voices during mass singing compared to the near deafening silence during the interim, had us tongue-tied. What can I say? Silence is truly golden 😉. The choir, rock band and instrumental teams also put up inspiring performances, showcasing the sheer talent of our house!!

The house dance team last Friday also can’t be undermined. The incredible display of skills and the raw emotion put into the routine was just spectacular!!

We, as the Rothwell leadership team, truly believe that this year has been one of Rothwell’s strongest years. Each one of you approached these house events with such passion and commitment, an undeniable fact, regardless of what the results might say.

Before we sign off, we want to thank you guys for everything you’ve done this year so far. While it may seem like the other houses are leap years ahead of us, it's still not over yet...  Believe it or not, there are still enough points for Rothwell to show the other houses that we are not to be underestimated. Trust, we as a house can still regain our aura 🤑🤑. Lets keep up the good work!!
