International Program

Assistant Principal - International Student Program

This term has been a vibrant and exciting time for our International Student Program at Elwood College. We are proud to have welcomed new students from across the globe, including China, Vietnam, Germany, France, Chile, Italy, South Korea, Japan, Brazil, and Nigeria. With 109 international students currently enrolled, our diverse community continues to thrive. We welcomed all of these students as part of our orientation program at the beginning of the year.

Our international students have embraced every opportunity to connect with school life. From diving into the excitement of the Swimming Carnival to sharing their culture on School Culture Day, they have been actively involved in all areas of college life. Many have also attended Homework Club regularly, supporting their academic progress and developing strong study habits.

One of the term’s standout moments was our City Experience Day. Students enjoyed a day of exploration in Melbourne, visiting the Eureka Skydeck, Queen Victoria Market, and Melbourne Central. It was a fantastic way for students to familiarise themselves with the city and learn how to navigate public transport. In addition, our Birthday and Lunar New Year celebration in term one was a great success thanks to the efforts of our International Student Staff.

Another highlight of this term was the International Student Camp along the Great Ocean Road and in Warrnambool. Students took part in surfing lessons, visited the 12 Apostles, and experienced some of Victoria’s most iconic sights.

While we prepare to farewell some of our short-term study abroad students, we wish them all the best in their future endeavours. Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome eight new international students in Term 2. Thank you to all the International Program staff - Jenny, Gabby, Kanako and Jolin, students, and families who make this program such a success.
