In Reading, students are enjoying James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. The class has been exploring the imaginative characters and adventurous storyline while building comprehension skills through predictions, discussions and vocabulary work. In Writing, students are focusing on Narrative Writing. They are learning how to structure a story with a clear beginning, middle and end, develop interesting characters and create detailed settings. There has already been some wonderful creativity shown in their planning and drafting.

In Maths, students are learning all about Place Value. They are working on understanding the value of digits in larger numbers, expanding numbers in different ways and applying their knowledge to problem solving tasks.

They are learning how to craft engaging story openings, build tension and also construct strong arguments supported by clear reasons and evidence.

In Maths, students are revising a range of key concepts in preparation for NAPLAN. This includes strengthening their number knowledge, problem solving skills and mathematical reasoning. Students are practising applying strategies confidently and explaining their thinking clearly.
