Grade 6

Reading

It has been another busy and exciting fortnight in Grade 6! In Reading, we have continued exploring the text Can You See Me?, developing our understanding of the characters, themes and important messages throughout the story. Students have enjoyed engaging in thoughtful discussions and making connections to the experiences of the characters.

Writing

In Writing, students have been putting their persuasive skills to the test by writing a persuasive letter to Mr Abdallah about whether our school should have a therapy dog. Students have been working hard to include strong arguments, persuasive techniques and convincing evidence to support their opinions. There have certainly been some very passionate arguments for both sides!

Maths

In Maths, we have been delving into Cartesian planes. Students have been learning how to identify and plot coordinates, as well as exploring different transformations, including translations, reflections and rotations. We have been developing our spatial reasoning and learning how coordinates can be used to describe and transform shapes.

Sport

It has also been a fantastic fortnight for our Grade 6 students in sport! Students have had the opportunity to showcase their rugby skills against other schools, compete in District Athletics and participate in various interschool sports. It has been wonderful to see students representing our school with enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship.

Book Week

We also celebrated Book Day, and it was fantastic to see the incredible range of costumes throughout the Grade 6 cohort. Thank you to everyone who put so much effort into their costumes — there were certainly some creative and impressive characters walking around the school!

What a busy couple of weeks it has been! We are incredibly proud of the way our Grade 6 students continue to challenge themselves, get involved and make the most of the opportunities around them.
