Grade 4

Literacy

Students have recently completed a warm-write information report on the wonders of Australia, producing thoughtful and well-structured pieces that showcased their growing ability to organise ideas and use topic-specific vocabulary.

We are now concluding our Wild Robot novel study. Students will craft a polished persuasive piece that argues why robots are helpful or why robots may not be helpful, drawing on evidence from the text and their own reasoning. This unit has strongly supported their development in persuasive writing and critical thinking.

Numeracy

Throughout Term 3, students have been exploring decimals, learning to partition numbers using both expanded and non-expanded form. This foundational understanding will now be applied to real-world contexts as students measure length, capacity, and mass.

In the final week of term, our focus will shift to problem solving, where students will apply their mathematical knowledge to multi-step tasks requiring reasoning, strategy, and persistence.

Term Events

It has been a vibrant and engaging term filled with opportunities for students to shine beyond the classroom. Highlights included:

• the Rivercrest Chess Tournament,
• a series of Sports Clinics,
• District Athletics, and
• our well-attended Father’s Breakfast.

Each event was a great success, and we are proud of the enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and community spirit shown by our Year 4 students.
