Senior School News

We have now farewelled the Class of 2026!
Last week was filled with wonderful celebrations as our Year 12 students enjoyed their final week of schooling. From Senior Sunrise and primary school dress-ups to favourite childhood characters, a sausage sizzle, teacher song dedications, chalk sign-offs, opening the letters they wrote to themselves in Year 7, and the much-loved Recess Rave, there were plenty of opportunities to celebrate, reflect and make some final memories together.
This year, our Year 12 leaders came up with the wonderful idea of each student purchasing a graduation cap to decorate throughout their final week of school. At the final bell, the students gathered on the oval and threw their caps into the air to mark the end of their time at MGSC. It was a lovely and memorable way to celebrate this milestone together.
It was wonderful to welcome so many families to our Reflection Assembly, filling the gym with warmth, pride and a strong sense of community. The assembly provided a special opportunity to celebrate the students’ VCE journey, reflect on their time at MGSC and acknowledge how far they have come. It was a heartfelt farewell, marking the end of classes and the beginning of their final examinations.
The Valedictory Dinner was a fitting way to finish such a memorable week, bringing students, families and staff together to celebrate the Class of 2026 and all they have achieved. The dance floor certainly got a workout! Thank you to Steph Loiacono and Sam Sleep for organising the event and for the many Year 12 teachers who came along to celebrate.
We wish all our graduating students the very best in the weeks ahead as they approach their final exams. We are incredibly proud of them and look forward to seeing where their journeys take them next!
The Year 12 Exam Period commences on Tuesday 27th October and runs through until the 18th November. The VCE Centre will be out of action during this time. Students are to use the Library during their study periods if Year 12s want to be onsite. If students need to speak to anyone in the Senior School, they need to enter via the Careers Room.
We wish the Year 12 students the best of luck with their upcoming exams and know that they will do their very best!
