Bilingual Dictionaries

Students are permitted to take a Bilingual Dictionary AND an English Dictionary into English exams. The library has acquired and curated a comprehensive selection of new bilingual and picture dictionaries for students to loan including languages: Amharic, Arabic, Cantonese, Farsi, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Khmer, Malayalam, Mandarin, Oromo, Russian, Tigrinya, Turkish, Ukrainian and Urdu.

I would like to acknowledge Dani Gratz who championed this initiative and the PFA who have generously donated funds in 2026 to enable the purchase of these items.

“…embedding a bilingualized dictionary as a vocabulary learning strategy is expected to promote sustainable vocabulary acquisition.”

Book Club Term 4

The next meeting on Wednesday 9 December will wrap up book club for 2026.  The students have thoughtfully chosen two bestselling novels to read which are thematically diverse.

Pachinko by Min Jin Lee - Through eight decades and four generations, Pachinko is an epic tale of family, identity, love, death and survival.

Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth - Sunburn is an astute and tender portrayal of first love, adolescent anxiety and the realities of growing up in a small town where tradition holds people tightly in its grasp.

I would like to take a moment to farewell Year 12 student Caitlin, who has been participating in Book Club and Shadow Judging for the past five years.  We will miss her as she moves onto the next chapter of her life (little pun intended).  We also farewell Demah, in Year 12, who has taken part in Shadow Judging for many years.  Best wishes from the library team to you both.

VCE Exams and SACs - Bound Reference

This is a reminder to students and parents that the library has book binding materials and is able to assist students with their bound references.
