Student Success Stories
Mentone Girls' Secondary College
Lacrosse is all right
MGSC has five talented Lacrosse players among our students. All recently received extraordinary accolades at the National Under 15 Lacrosse Tournament, competing as part of Lacrosse Australia's development team with selected elite junior players from all states. It was a remarkable experience for all the MGSC girls involved, and their sportsmanship was recognised.
Riley Harris & Elouise Barwell, both recieved the Spirit of Lacrosse Award for the player/s who most exemplifies the spirit of lacrosse by championing the team and respecting coaches, players and officials.
Ella Gehradte recieved the MVP Award.
Amy Joy Duncan & Karla Van Onselen were in the second placed team.
Elouise Barwell & Ella Gehradte were in the winning, first place team.
That's four MGSC students participating in the final match.
Congratulations to our students who following their passion in this sport and accomplishing so much.
More Madi
Year 11 student Madi Ryan recently returned from Kuala Lumpur, where she captained the Australian Under-18 Women's Basketball team, the Gems, to victory at the FIBA Asia Cup. What an incredible achievement to represent your country, lead your team, and bring home a championship!
As if that wasn't enough excitement, Madi also made her WNBL debut on Friday 16 October! To achieve these milestones while still in Year 11 is truly remarkable.
Aerobics everywhere
Year 8 students, Meg Wells, Arya O’Keefe, Eden Leslie and Katherine Lazarchuk participated in the FISAF (Federation of International Sport Aerobics and Fitness)Aerobics Nationals in September. They are enthusiastic Aerobics athletes participating in the sport within and outside MGSC. Their team, Ashlyn’s Angels, placed second in their competitin. Congratulations on this amazing achievement!
Fantastic Gymnastics
We also congratulate Year 10 student Arina, who competed at the 2026 Junior Victorian Gymnastics Championships, held in Melbourne from 15–18 October. Arina achieved an outstanding third place in her free-hand routine! What a fantastic result, and a wonderful reward for the many hours of training and dedication that go into competing at this level.e wrote it
