Performing Arts

Year Prep
The Prep Community has been exploring an Introduction to Performing Arts. Students have developed a basic understanding of what it means to be a great performer and an awesome audience member. In Music lessons, they are learning to sing chants and use body percussion to keep a steady beat. In Dance lessons, students are learning to show safe dance practices and explore different dance styles including the popular steps of the ‘Macarena’.
Year 1/2
The Year 1/2 Community have been revisiting an Introduction to Performing Arts. Students have been expressing ideas that reflect our school care values, using dramatic freeze frames and singing a community song using musical instruments that highlight all are welcome in Performing Arts. In Drama, students role-played a character that was experiencing their first day at school, showing respect to others by acting as a student as well as a teacher in front of their peers. They acted out a range of classes including subjects such as Physical Education, Science, Dance, Cooking, Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
Year 5/6 Choir
The Year 5/6 Choir students have started to develop their vocal and breathing techniques to perform a range of songs. They have rehearsed the Australian Anthem that will be performed at every school assembly and have started to revisit the song, ‘Here You Lie’ by Mark Puddy in preparation for Anzac Day. Students will be learning a new song called, ‘Love is the Key’ as part of Harmony Day.
