 Grace worked under the mentorship of journalist Kate from the Village Voice and showcased her impressive skills in interviewing, editing, and writing. A proud moment for this long-time member of our Writers Club!

Metben | Year 10  

Congratulations to Metben, who recently participated in the Ozanam Leadership Program, a transformative leadership experience that saw only 25 participants selected from around 60 applicants across the Brisbane region.

Reflecting on her journey in the Leadership Program, Metben shared:

“Being part of the Ozanam Leadership Program has been a truly transformative experience. When I first joined, I thought I already had the confidence and leadership skills I needed, but I quickly realised how much more there was to learn. From the very start, when we were sent to Emu Gully without knowing anyone—mixed with the Queensland OLP 2025 participants—I was pushed outside my comfort zone. Out of around 60 applicants from the Brisbane region, only 25 were selected, which made it a real privilege to be part of such a motivated group. That first camp helped us form strong, lasting friendships that continued throughout the program. Through our fortnightly after-school sessions, we explored advocacy, service, and the true meaning of leadership. The program isn’t just about learning how to lead—it’s about bettering your greater self and being open to new experiences. We met inspiring CEOs, took part in the CEO Sleepout, and joined Buddies Days with disadvantaged children, as well as a September trip that focused on teamwork and giving back through sport. I’ve learned that leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about being humble, adaptable, and willing to grow. I’m so grateful for the lifelong friendships, connections, and lessons I gained through the Ozanam Leadership Program, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to challenge themselves and make a real difference".

Heidi | Year 11 

Congratulations to Heidi, whose speech on inclusion was shared in 

Parliament as part of the Raise Our Voice Campaign!

Heidi’s speech was a timely reminder of the importance of empathy, acceptance, and celebrating diversity in Australia. She highlighted the need for education that fosters understanding, support for young people who feel silenced, and stronger protections against discrimination. Her courage to stand up for others and speak out on such a vital issue is truly inspiring.

We are so proud of Heidi and know her voice will continue to make an impact well beyond the walls of Mt A!
