Introducing...................

Omar Moustafa and Vera Rakic to the Mullauna College Community

Omar Moustafa is a Voice Teacher and

Choir Leader here at Mullauna.   He has been very generous with his time and has happily answered the following questionnaire for us.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I wanted to help young singers overcome the vocal obstacles that I struggled with as a teenager.

How long have you been in the teaching game?

8 years.

What was your last place of employment - school/university or another organisation?

I also teach voice at Gladstone Park Secondary College, Parade College and privately for Ian Nisbet Vocal Coaching.

What do you love most about teaching?

Seeing my students sing in ways they didn’t know they ever could.

What has been one of your best teaching moments?

Watching my students perform on stage at the Melbourne Recital Centre for Top Class.

What would be 3 things that you would like your students to know about you?

  1.   Taskmaster UK is my favourite TV show (followed closely by Avatar: The Last Airbender).
  2.  My favourite author is Kurt Vonnegut and I read all his novels in chronological order in high school.
  3.  I’m a Hufflepuff and could beat any of them at HP trivia.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?

Japan, I would happily visit every year.

What TV show/series did you last binge watch?

The New Look, starring Australia’s own Ben Mendelsohn.

If you could wear Harry’s invisibility cloak for one day, where would you go and what would you do?

That’s Harry Potter’s cloak not Harry Ruff’s cloak 😊

I would go to Fuji-Q Highland, skip all the lines and ride the rollercoasters all day.

What is the one piece of ‘advice’ or the one thing that you always say to your students?

Whenever my students tell me about something they wish they could do but can’t, I ask them to say it again but this time to end their sentence with “yet.” Always keep the door open to progress and learning new things!

Vera Rakic - is an Education Support Worker here at Mullauna. To get to know her a little bit better we put her on the spot and asked her the following question :

“What do you enjoy doing in your spare time when you are not at Mullauna College?”

This was a tough one to answer ….

I usually like to spend the weekend relaxing with family, especially my nieces who like to hang out at my house after my very busy week between work and after school activities.

Trying new recipes and going for walk and getting to weekend markets.

Thank you and welcome to Mullauna College, Omar & Vera
