First XIII Rugby League
The Saints First XIII team wrapped up the regular season of the Aaron Payne Cup with two comprehensive wins over Holy Spirit College and Mareeba SHS to top Pool B. The boys travelled to Townsville in Week 3 to face Holy Spirit College, easily accounting for them with a dominant 82-0 victory. Ten players scored for Saints including, Cooper Meares (5), Rhys Woolcott (2), Noah Dowdle, Jesse Ziegler, Leslie Fatafehi, Waterman Noipo, Daniel Brennan and Bereket Linnehan.
The Week 4 clash against Mareeba SHS saw our boys dictate proceedings from the opening exchanges on their way to a 78-0 victory. Sam Jonsen scored the first try within the first 90 seconds and the boys kept their feet on the accelerator with 15 tries from 11 different try scorers. Leslie Fatafehi, Elijah Williamson, Waterman Noipo and Sam Jonsen all scored doubles with Jaic Morris, Braith Clubb, Jack Rix, Elai Williamson, Lucas Russell, Cooper Meares, Cayde Miller and Tristian Martin all scoring. Their undefeated season to date has seen them top Pool B and book a semi-final with Kirwan SHS. The boys will play in the curtain raiser to the Cowboys vs Broncos NRL clash at Queensland Country Bank stadium tomorrow. The game can be live streamed on Kommunity TV at the following link,
Cowboys Challenge
The Cowboys Challenge team looked to continue their steady improvement throughout their season when they took on Holy Spirit College in their Week 4 fixture. Captain, Xavier Lallemand, dominated the match from the get-go, scoring the opening try in the first 90 seconds before adding a second 10 minutes later. Saints were simply a class above, compact and aggressive in defence, while positive and looking to make the extra pass on attack. Playing at halfback, Xavier put Sam McNamara through for his first try after he assisted Tyler McLaren for the third try of the game. Leading 22-0 at halftime, Saints pushed the score out to 32-0 thanks to a second-half try by Will Palmer.
Saints last game of the season also coincided with the Year 10 Camp. With the Year 10s out, we had a glimpse into the future with a squad comprised of Years 8s and 9s playing in the Year 10-aged competition. The boys went down 38-12 but showed many positive signs, especially in a tight second half. The boys fought hard and punched above their weight to show that they are ready to step up in future years. Thank you to Mr Will and Mr Anderson for your work with the teams throughout this season.
JSS Round 1 vs MacKillop College
Saints took on MacKillop in Round 1 of the JSS competition in Week 4 of Term 3. Saints JSS teams had an undefeated start to the season, securing 5 wins in the away fixture. Our teams look to take on competition newcomers Newman College at home in Round 2 during Week 5. Good luck boys.

Swimming Carnival
The annual St Augustine’s Swimming Carnival was held on Wednesday at the Tobruk Memorial Pool. It was great to see so many students participating in the day and getting involved in the events and novelties and demonstrating house spirit and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Reginald House for a dominant win and the age champions, below. These congratulations must also be extended to all students who placed in events or got in and had a dig as this is what the carnival is all about. Finally, thank you to the staff who ensured that the day ran seamlessly. A special thank you must be extended to Mr Kirk Donaldson, Mrs Tracy Lammert and Mrs Tash Falge for their time and effort put into the carnival.
