Test n Tune Day 14th October
Around 30 students in the team along with 3 trikes headed out to the Haddon go Kart track, along with 9 other schools for the day to test their growing skills for the upcoming 24-hour racing event at Maryborough in November.
The team tuned their skills, in lap after lap, changing riders, flat tyres, put back on bike chains that had come loose, upturned a rolled trike (only once fortunately), learnt to turn corners more safely refining their skill on each bend and timed their laps.
The vibe amongst the team was so positive, no matter what age or year level, or level of experience. There was so much encouragement all around to be heard. And amongst all that were the instructions that could be heard when one student was teaching another how to get their cleat into the pedal, or how to tighten the six point safety belt, giving a tip on something that works well for them, or congratulating someone for a job well done, or simply running to help out when there was a call for help, or a yell out that a bike was coming into the pits.
As leaders we smiled with pride reflecting how far some of these students had grown, matured and bonded in the time they had been part of this program. We are so grateful to be able to be part of running this program, to be able to witness the change in the students in this program and so grateful for the support that makes it possible for us to be able to financially continue this program.
We would like the thank our most recent sponsor JWR Accounting.
