German Exchange 2025

On September 20th, twenty students and three teachers embarked on an exciting journey to Germany for a three-week language exchange. After 26 hours of travel, we landed in Zurich at 7 a.m. local time, ready to dive straight into a jam-packed first day.

We were warmly welcomed by our exchange families and settled into our new homes in Singen. Despite the heavy jet lag, we wasted no time exploring — our first adventure was a hike up to the historic Hohentwiel Castle. Over the following weeks, we visited many incredible local attractions, including the Rhine Falls and Schaffhausen, Titisee, Konstanz, Meersburg and Rottweil.

One of the highlights of the trip was our overnight stay in Füssen, where we visited the famous Neuschwanstein Castle (also known as the Disney Castle). We also embarked on a challenging but rewarding hike through the Swiss Alps to Ebenalp, Schäfler and Äscher — a true test of endurance, but everyone made it to the top! Another memorable stop was Freiburg, near the Black Forest, where we enjoyed the famous Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest Cake) and visited the stunning Münster Cathedral.

Throughout our trip, we sampled plenty of delicious German cuisine — from schnitzel, spaghetti eis and Spezi, to endless pretzels. We even enjoyed a few Italian meals during our overnight stays. Needless to say, we were very well fed!

This exchange was an unforgettable experience filled with learning, adventure and friendship. We’re incredibly grateful to our parents and teachers for making this trip possible and for their support throughout our journey.
