Grateful and Happy to Be Here

It has been such a positive and energetic start to the year in the Year 8 Hub. Students have settled in beautifully, building new friendships, embracing new challenges, and showing a great willingness to get involved. There’s a wonderful buzz around the classrooms, and we are truly happy to be here and loving everything the year has already begun to offer!

Sketching Success in the Art Room

Our students have been busy in Art, developing their drawing skills and exploring pattern, detail and design. From bold, imaginative line work to carefully coloured geometric pieces, students have been focusing on shading, texture and symmetry to bring their ideas to life.

It has been wonderful to see the level of concentration and creativity in the classroom, with students taking their time to refine details and experiment with different techniques. The pride they are showing in their work is fantastic, and their sketchbooks are quickly filling with impressive designs. 🎨✏️

Our 1st Annual Not Swimming Carnival

On Wednesday 25th February, our school community came together for our very first Not the Swimming Sports Carnival, and what a fantastic day it was!

Although the event was originally planned to take place at John Butler Oval, the weather had other ideas. However, a change of location to the undercover basketball courts certainly did not dampen our spirits! The energy and enthusiasm of our students ensured the day was still a huge success.

During Break 2, the whole school joined in the fun, proudly dressed in their House colours and earning valuable House points. There was something for everyone, from carnival games and novelty events to the ever-popular sausage sizzle. DJ Kody kept the atmosphere lively, creating a vibrant and exciting space for students and staff alike. It was wonderful to see such strong participation across all year levels. The day was filled with laughter, colour and friendly competition. A fantastic whole school event that we look forward to continuing in the years ahead!

Online Safety, Respect and Responsible Choices

Our Year 8 students recently took part in a year level assembly focused on online safety, respectful relationships and making responsible choices. The session was co-facilitated by a representative from our local Proactive Policing Team alongside BSC staff. Students explored the safe use of social media, the legal and personal consequences of violence, and the importance of standing up against bullying and discrimination. BSC staff also reinforced our SWPBS expectations across all school settings and highlighted clear help-seeking pathways, including Stymie. This session aimed to strengthen student awareness and ensure all students understand their rights, responsibilities and the supports available to them.
