Halo families!!!
In Indonesian we have started the year by tapping into the school keywide understanding and exploring it in an Indonesian way. Our big idea is Our ADAT keep us safe, happy and able to learn.
We have bounced off an episode of Bluey called ‘Turtle Boy’ to understand what ‘adat’ is. (It’s what Bandit would call ‘just the done thing’ (and a dictionary would call customs). We discovered that our families have similar but slightly different ‘adat’ for how to behave when you finish eating your dinner. An example of ‘adat’ that we need for the Indonesian classroom is how to climb the stairs in a way that “keeps us safe happy and able to learn”. So that we can use Bahasa Indonesia follow the part of this adat that requires us to use our left hand we played twister! When you come up to visit us please remember to use your ‘tangan kiri’ (left hand)!
Salam,
Ibu Kas
