A Message from Keir and Emma

“We would like to acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people, the first people to dream, create, wonder, dance, play and learn on this breathtaking land. This land was cared for and respected for tens of thousands of years. The First Nations people lived in companionship with the animals and the life on this land. We acknowledge that this is stolen land and we pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging.”

Good-bye Veneta!
Veneta Braybon, one of our longest-serving ES, will be moving on to another job at the end of this week. Many of our staff and students have been supported by Veneta in her time as an ES at BNWPS. Veneta is a caring, thoughtful and action-oriented ES who also has an extremely crafty side - you may have seen some of her beautiful, coloured crochet works on display around the school.
Veneta has been training to be an Art Therapist and (of course!) has already been snapped up by another setting. We wish her all the best of luck, Veneta, and thank you for all of the positive relationships and empathetic support you have given all of us. We will be thanking Veneta at our assembly on Friday afternoon.
If you see Veneta in the yard, please say a big thank you, goodbye, and don't be a stranger!
NAPLAN
NAPLAN stands for “National Assessment Program, Literacy and Numeracy” and is an annual assessment conducted with students in grades 3, 5, 7 and 9. NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers and schools to see how their child is progressing against national standards.
NAPLAN is scheduled to begin next week. NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress.
If your child is in grade 3 or 5 this year and you have questions about their participation in the assessment, please speak with your child’s classroom teacher.
Labor Day
A reminder to families that there is no school next Monday 9th March, for the Labor Day public holiday.

To all of our BNWPS families celebrating Ramadan, we send our warmest wishes for a blessed month. May this special time bring reflection, joy, and meaningful moments with loved ones. We are thinking of you during this holy month and wish you continued strength, happiness, and blessings throughout Ramadan. 🌙
