Stage 3 Oztag

It has been another exciting season for our Stage 3 Oztag teams!

Our Stage 3 Boys have continued their strong form, winning their last two games consecutively by convincing margins. In their latest game, the boys came away with an 8–1 victory. Our rovers, Kirin and Timothy, managed the game brilliantly and made some excellent decisions throughout. Our kicking game was also a real strength, with early passes creating opportunities for our powerful runners and centres, Beau and Pranav, to make the most of their speed and strength.

Our Stage 3 Girls also played an excellent game against a very strong Epping West side. Although they went down 8–1, the girls showed great resilience and continued to compete right until the final whistle. They were outplayed by a very talented opposition but never stopped working for each other. A special shout-out goes to Zara, who displayed excellent defensive skills and worked tirelessly throughout the game.

Last week’s games were particularly special for me, as they marked my final games coaching the Stage 3 Oztag teams at Roselea. The season will continue, but I will be handing over the coaching duties to Mr Andrew Love for the remainder of the competition.

It has been an absolute pleasure to coach these teams. This is my fourth year teaching and coaching many of the same students, and it has been incredible to watch their growth. I still remember our first Oztag game when our current Year 6 students were just learning the sport — some were running backwards towards our own try line simply to avoid getting tagged!

Fast forward four years, and these students have developed into confident and skilful Oztag players with exceptional knowledge of the game. Watching their development, teamwork and confidence has been one of the highlights of my time at Roselea.

A huge thank you to all of our Stage 3 Oztag players for your effort, commitment, sportsmanship and enthusiasm over the years. It has been a privilege to coach you, and I am incredibly proud of how far you have come. I wish you all the best for the remainder of the season.
