The Three Billy Goats Gruff is our current mentor text. The students have been identifying the main events at the beginning, middle, and end of the story, drawing these moments, and then orally sequencing the tale. During sentence-level writing activities, they are identifying the 'who', 'doing', 'when', and 'where' in a sentence or picture. These are the crucial building blocks for creating simple sentences.
During the morning literacy block, the students participated in literacy rotations. Each activity focused on an aspect of phonological and phonemic awareness related to InitiaLit.

In Inquiry, our Foundation students are using their writing skills to explain the features of Australian animals. After co-constructing a sentence for each animal feature, students copy the modelled text, practicing how to form their letters correctly while using finger spaces, capital letters, and full stops.

In Mathematics, we have been building our number knowledge by counting forwards and backwards to 20, reading and writing numerals, and counting collections using one-to-one correspondence. A major focus has been on developing students' understanding of teen numbers by identifying the tens and ones within each number. Through the use of ten-frames, concrete materials and hands-on learning experiences, students have been representing numbers in a variety of ways and strengthening their understanding of place value.

Our Foundation students had so much fun at their first disco! The dance floor was filled with smiles, laughter, and some impressive dance moves. It was wonderful to see everyone having fun with their friends and enjoying this special school experience.

Please join us for Year P-2 Mass next Thursday, 18th June at 9.15am.
