Principal's Report
Term 4, Week 9

Dear St FX Parents and Carers,
Federation Farm Representative
Thank you to our parents who contacted the school enquiring about this position. We have successfully filled the position and wish to congratulate and thank Lauren Eather for taking on this role in 2026.
P & F Trivia Night
I would like to extend my thanks to our P & F Committee for the organisation of the recent Trivia Night. Not only was it a wonderful success financially but it was so great to have the chance to mingle with people from our Narrabri community.
Thank you to all our P & F members for a wonderful year of community events and fundraising. Due to the community and committee’s efforts our school will be purchasing sport marquees, musical instruments, buddy benches and contributions towards the Year 6 Canberra Excursion.
Annual Band Performance
Whilst talking of school community spirit, it was well and truly present last Friday as our School Band performed an evening concert for families under the COLA. Under the instruction of Ms Rosemary Smith, our band played numerous songs and then shared a wonderful evening of food together with their families and friends in the audience. Many thanks must go to Rosemary for the dedication she has shown towards our band over the years, but also to the ex-student and family members who performed alongside our current students.
We don’t know how Rosemary does it!
End of Year Mass - Feast of St Francis Xavier
Last week, we celebrated the Feast Day of our school’s patron saint, St Francis Xavier. He was one of the greatest missionaries in the history of the Catholic Church, known for his deep faith, dedication and tireless work spreading the Gospel. Let us reflect on his legacy as we grow together in faith and learning at St FX.
2026 Student Leadership Speeches
Many of our Year 5 students will deliver their leadership speech as part of the process of running for a student leadership position in 2026 on Tuesday 9th December. These young, aspiring leaders recently nominated themselves for student leadership and are now preparing a speech in class as part of this term’s literacy unit. Good luck to all of our future school leaders.
Semester Two Reports
Semester Two reports will be made available via Compass at 4.00pm this Thursday 11th December. The reports can be found on your child's profile page, under the "Reports" tab. You can also access previous semester reports from the same place. Please contact the front office if you are not sure of your login details.
2026 Classes
A Compass notification will be sent today with details regarding staffing and specialised roles in 2026. We have 4 new staff joining our classrooms next year. This is due to both our school population increasing as well as Mrs Karen Brooks, Mrs Catherine Nalder and Mrs Sally Foster taking a year of leave and a well earned break.
2025 Presentation Day
Our 2025 Presentation Day will be held at the Crossing Theatre next Tuesday 16th December. It will commence at 10am and we anticipate that it will conclude around midday. Notification was sent home to the families of award recipients last Friday, however all families are warmly encouraged and welcome to attend.
Principal Awards and Special Assembly
Our last school assembly will be held this Friday, 12th December at 2:30pm. We are presenting the Term 4 Living Well, Learning Well Principal Awards. Class representatives will be speaking about their year and Kindergarten has promised us a performance too! Everyone is most welcome to attend.
Christmas Thank You Message
Our school truly is a wonderful school and I am blessed to have such a wonderful staff to support me in my first year as Principal. I want all our families to know how hard our staff have worked to ensure your children have the very best opportunities in and out of the classroom. I am very proud to be the Principal of St Francis Xavier’s because of these professional and caring adults.
Likewise, I hope you all experience the joy of Christmas with family and friends and celebrate the start of 2026 in style. For those families travelling this holiday period, I wish you safe travels and look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.
Mrs Michelle O’Connor
Principal
