St Monica's Takes on the Push-Up Challenge
This year, St Monica's College proudly participated in the Push-Up Challenge for the very first time, joining thousands of Australians in raising awareness and starting important conversations about mental health.
Across all three campuses, students and staff embraced the challenge with enthusiasm, determination, and a genuine sense of community. Throughout the month, more than 100 students took part in a variety of lunchtime push-up challenges, testing their strength while supporting an important cause. The energy and encouragement shown by participants reflected the College's commitment to promoting both physical and mental wellbeing.
A particular highlight was at the Davisson Street Campus (DSC), where a friendly year-level competition quickly became the talk of the campus. Students eagerly represented their year levels, cheering one another on and creating an atmosphere filled with teamwork, healthy competition, and school spirit. It was inspiring to see so many students step outside their comfort zones and support each other throughout the challenge.
Beyond the push-ups themselves, the initiative provided valuable opportunities to learn about mental health, resilience, and the importance of checking in on friends and family. It reinforced the message that looking after our mental wellbeing is just as important as looking after our physical health.
A sincere thank you goes to all students and staff who participated, encouraged others, or helped organise the lunchtime events. A special mention to Sehajta Kamboj a member of the Student Council, whose initiative and leadership played an important role in promoting the challenge and encouraging fellow students to get involved. Their enthusiasm inspired others to participate and helped create a welcoming and inclusive environment where everyone felt supported.
The Push-Up Challenge was a wonderful reflection of our Monican values. Through service, compassion, courage, and community, our students demonstrated what it means to care for one another and contribute positively to the life of the College. We are incredibly proud of everyone who participated and look forward to building on the success of this initiative in the years to come.
