SRC Consultation on Charles Rooks Reserve

On Tuesday 9th June, we welcomed representatives from the local council to discuss the proposed new playground and play space at Charles Rooks Reserve. As part of this consultation, our SRC representatives had the opportunity to view the draft master plans for the park upgrades and provide valuable feedback to help shape the future design of this important community space. We were proud of the thoughtful ideas and suggestions shared by our students, who represented the school with enthusiasm.

SRC Food Drive

At the end of Term 1, our SRC organised a Food Drive to support members of the wider community experiencing hardship. Students, families, and staff generously donated a variety of non-perishable food items, demonstrating our school's strong spirit of compassion.

Initially, we planned to direct the donations to a Bushfire Appeal. However, after exploring a range of options, we were unable to find a suitable organisation that could accept the collection within our timeframe. To ensure the donations reached those in need as quickly as possible, we instead donated the food to St Mark's, who kindly coordinated the delivery of the items to the Food Pantry.

To Our Dear Friends at Pleasant Road Primary School

This is just a small note to say thank you so much for your generous donations towards out Food Pantry. Every week we have people from our local community come in to access our Food Pantry. They come in for a number of different reasons, all facing a variety of different challenges. However thanks to the kindness of those in our community such as your school, and churches like St Marks, we are able to provide them with food hampers, vouchers and the knowledge that they are not alone. I believe they come for the food, but they keep coming back for the community, the connections. It is always lovely to see them chatting to each other. So thank you so much for your partnership and support, you are so appreciated.

5/6 Gala Day

On Thursday our Year 5/6 students participated in the 2026 Winter Sports Gala Day, competing against students from schools across the district. Students played T-Ball, Soccer, Australian Football and Netball. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to develop their skills, challenge themselves and build connections with students from other schools. Thank you to Ros, Sam, Claire, Ciara, Jane and Taya, parent helper Alice P, and student teacher Lucinda for their support coaching and managing teams on the day.

ICE Showcase

Thank you to all our families who attended our Investigate, Create, Express Showcase today. Students were proud to share and celebrate their learning from the 10-week program. It was wonderful to see students confidently showcasing their projects, skills, and achievements while explaining their learning journey to family members and visitors. We appreciate the support of our families and the enthusiasm shown throughout the event.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our I.C.E. parents and community volunteers for their support throughout this semester- Joe and Jo who ran Woodwork, Shereen who ran Table Tennis and Justine who ran Origami, your time, commitment, and enthusiasm have played a valuable role in the success of the program. I would also like to Thnak Leyla from OSH for running a group too.

It was lovely to have Shereen share her ICE experience with us :

“The boys in the group were amazing. I had such a great time getting to know each of them. We had a mixture of skills and experience in the group, but  I think that any student that had never picked up a table tennis bat would  now be able to say that they can serve and hit the ball. The more experienced players helped to coach the others, and the boys were all so kind and supportive to each other.”

As we look ahead to Semester Two, we are seeking volunteers to continue supporting our students and activities. Whether you can assist regularly or on an occasional basis, your involvement would be greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information about how you can support the program, please contact me at stephanie.muratovic@education.vic.gov.au.
