Home and school partnership
One of the strongest influences on a child's success at school is the partnership between home and school. When families and teachers work together, students benefit from consistent messages, shared expectations and a strong support network that helps them feel confident and successful.
At MPRPS, we value the important role families play in their child's learning journey. Simple actions such as talking positively about school, asking your child about their day, reading together, celebrating effort and maintaining regular routines can have a significant impact on both learning and wellbeing.
Partnership does not mean being an expert in every subject or helping with every piece of work. Often, the most valuable support comes from showing interest, encouraging persistence when learning is challenging, and communicating with the school when questions or concerns arise.
After a long day at school, students may not always be forthcoming with details about their day and that's completely normal! As adults, we often find it difficult to summarise our day in a single sentence too. Some questions that can help spark more meaningful conversations include:
- What is something you learned today that you didn't know yesterday?
- What was something challenging you worked through today?
- Who did you help today, or who helped you?
As we approach the end of Semester 1, student reports will be available to families in the final week of term. These reports provide a snapshot of your child's progress and achievements and can be a great starting point for conversations about learning.
Our Three-Way Conferences will take place in Week 2 of next term and provide an excellent opportunity for students, families and teachers to come together to celebrate learning, reflect on progress and discuss next steps and goals for the semester ahead.
Of course, learning is an ongoing journey, and we encourage families not to wait for reports or conferences if they have questions or concerns. If there is something you would like to discuss about your child's learning or wellbeing, please reach out to your child's teacher at any time. We value working in partnership with families to support every student to thrive.
