Year 12 Study Tutorials and Workshops

The College was abuzz with activity during the Term 2 break with multiple workshops and tutorials taking place for Year 12. Thank you to the many students and staff who continue to prepare diligently for their HSC; completing practice exams, attending study lessons and completing work on their major projects.

It is wonderful to see the dedication from all members of the St Pius X community.

Academic Annexe extended opening

During Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 3, the College is keeping the Academic Annexe open until 6:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday for Year 12 students to collaboratively study prior to the HSC Trials. A pizza dinner will be provided to any Year 12 student in attendance.

In past years, this has been a positive experience for all students. We encourage all Year 12 students to attend to seek feedback from staff members and St Pius Oldboy Tutors who will be available to assist students and help with a wide variety of subjects and topics, with specific help available across Mathematics and Science subjects. We hope all students take this opportunity to work with their peers and prepare for the Year 12 Trial HSC.

The Academic Annexe remains open to all students until 5:10 pm and Oldboy Tutors continue to be in attendance.

NAPLAN Results

Students in Years 5, 7 and 9 should have received their NAPLAN Individual Student Report (ISR) on Wednesday. In the coming weeks the College will share the cohort results compared to the state and national averages. The Australian Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) will publish the national results in August and then we will have an understanding of how students performed compared to others.

We are analysing the data to determine what priority areas need to be addressed for each of the groups. The data we have received from these tests direct us to prioritise the literacy and numeracy development of students. We continue to implement a number of strategies to improve student achievement in numeracy, reading and writing.

Please feel free to contact the College if you have any questions or require additional information about the NAPLAN results and process.
