Can you believe that we are near the end of Term 3 and what a busy term it has been.
We are so proud of our students who are continuing to show dedication, progress and independence. This term has been filled with lots of exciting events and experiences and below is a small snapshot of some of the highlights of the last few weeks.
In early August, the students were visited by two Officers from the Australian Federal Police who came and spoke to us about keeping safe online and offline when at home. The students were all well behaved and respectful as they listened and watched their important presentation. They learned about 'real friends' and 'online friends' and to never talk to strangers online. They also explained to the students to NEVER give out their details like their real names, ages or address. We hope all the students walked away with more knowledge and understanding on how to stay safe online.

Last week we celebrated book week and started the week with a dress-up day and a parade.
It was amazing and all the students put in so much effort into their costumes. We had a couple of Spidermen in the grade, Creepers and Steve from Minecraft, Mary Poppins, Gruffalo, Cat in the Hat, Princesses, Witches, Thing 1 & 2, a Policeman, a Minion, a Fairy, Rat and Queen of Hearts. In our library and Literacy sessions, we have been exploring all the shortlisted picture story books, and it has been great to see the children interested and keen to hear and see the books. Well done to all the students for participating in our annual book week celebrations.

We have been very lucky to have our local Firefighters visit the preps, not once but twice.
On their first visit, they spoke about their important jobs and what good and bad fires are. They spoke about what to do if there is a fire in the house and the 'meeting place' if they had to leave because of smoke or a fire. They showed us their important uniforms and equipment.....until they were suddenly called to an actual emergency. They came back the following week, and this time, they brought their fire truck. The students were so excited. They all had the opportunity to hold the fire hose and see what is on a fire truck as well. Well done Preps on your wonderful and respectful behaviour. Have a look at their amazing recounts after the Firefighter's visits!

This week, we ran a Spelling Bee with our students. First, we looked for a 'champion' speller to represent each class. Congratulations to Conrad from Prep A and Declan from Prep B who were selected to represent their grades. It was fantastic to see the other students cheer on our champions as they battled it out to spell words correctly. Sensational effort from both boys and congratulations to Conrad for being our Spelling Bee Champion and to Declan for coming runner up.
