Deputy Principal
Year 8 and 11
As we come to the end of a challenging yet rewarding term, I want to extend my congratulations to all the boys for their exemplary behaviour and engagement. Your commitment and focus have truly stood out, and you should be proud of the progress you have made. This term has been particularly demanding as the Year 11 boys prepared and completed their final term and Yearly Assessments.
A significant milestone has been reached this term: the boys will now prepare for their final assessments in Term 4. This will start in week 2 next term with the bulk of tasks being completed in weeks 4, 5 and 6. This will be their final opportunity to achieve good marks to support their final ranking. This ranking will determine some of their classes for next year. As you may be aware, as of next year the boys will no longer be travelling to subjects in a class group as certain subjects will be attended as graded classes, marking an important step in their educational journey. This change aims to better tailor learning experiences to individual student needs and strengths.
Holiday Adventures: Exploring Sydney and Embracing the Year of the ‘Book and Pen’
To keep the spirit of learning and exploration alive during the holidays, I have encouraged all boys to embark on an adventure with their friends. These adventures should involve real organisation and travel by bus, train, and/or ferry around Greater Sydney. This initiative complements the Year of the ‘Book and the Pen’ with their adventure stories. All students are invited to submit a story of their adventure along with supporting photographs by Thursday, Week 1, Term Four.
As an exciting incentive, the greatest adventure story will earn its author and adventure buddies a free lunch. Please note that adventures must be independently organised by the boys themselves, without parental involvement in planning or transportation, to meet the conditions of this challenge. Should they need funds for their adventure - they may need to earn some $$ which should be negotiated with chores.
Enjoy a well-deserved and relaxing break, recharge, and come back ready to tackle the final term with enthusiasm.
Reflecting on Preliminary HSC and Preparing for Year 12
Year 11 students have just completed their Preliminary HSC courses, and I hope results reflect the hard work put in. With Year 12 starting next term, take full advantage of the two-week break to rest and refresh.
Upon returning in Term 4, boys will receive preliminary reports, providing valuable insight into two key areas:
What is the subject you may consider dropping and why?
This offers a critical opportunity to focus on the best 10 units and to strive for the highest possible achievement. These results will support future applications for further study, employment, and traineeships. I commend all Year 11 boys for their conduct and engagement throughout the recent assessment block. If preparation was challenging, use this as a learning experience to improve as you move into Year 12.
Next term, you will proudly return as the senior students and leaders of Epping Boys High School—your final year to set an example, work hard, and aim to achieve your best.
Building Our Future: Infrastructure Upgrades
We are thrilled to announce that we have received approval to proceed with the upgrade of two Science Labs and the prep room, as well as significant improvements to the school hall. This upgrade is excellent news for the entire school community and will greatly enhance our learning environment.
Thank you once again to all students and parents for your continued support this term. Enjoy the holidays, embrace new adventures, and get ready to return with renewed energy for the exciting term ahead. Well done to all the boys on achieving their 100% attendance awards and PBL awards, tie pins and ties.
