Term 1 Reflections
As we come to the end of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a terrific start to the school year. It has been wonderful to see our students return with enthusiasm, positivity, and a strong commitment to their learning.
From the very first day, classrooms have been filled with energy and purpose. Our students have settled quickly into their routines, demonstrating resilience, curiosity, and a willingness to challenge themselves. I would like to acknowledge the dedication of our staff, who have worked tirelessly to create engaging and supportive learning environments where every student can thrive.
A particular highlight this term has been the fantastic start of our house teams. The sense of school spirit, teamwork, and friendly competition has been evident across all year levels. Students have embraced opportunities to participate, support one another, and proudly represent their houses. It has been especially pleasing to see new friendships forming and students stepping into leadership roles within their teams.
Events and activities throughout the term have further strengthened our school community. Whether in the classroom, on the sporting field, or through co-curricular opportunities, our students have shown great pride in their efforts and achievements.
Yarrabing Secondary College’s Student Leadership Structure will eventually provide students with the opportunity to actively participate in decision-making processes of our school as we grow. Students will be encouraged to take on leadership roles and provided an array of opportunities to develop the confidence and skills which they can take with them when graduating. Student leaders will eventually represent the student body and their school in a wide range of forums at school and in the community to help shape a positive future. In 2026, we will continue to expand. We anticipate that Class Captains of each House will meet regularly with their Coordinators and the Principal Class Team to provide feedback and ideas.
As we look ahead to Term 2, we are excited to build on this strong foundation. Thank you to our families for your continued support, and to our students for the positive way you represent our school each day.
I do remind our families that the first day of Term 2 will be Monday 20th April 2026.
I wish everyone a safe and restful break and look forward to another productive and rewarding term ahead.
